Raised on Radio

Started in the spring of 2023 with their first gig in a driveway for a block party. Since then, they've grown to be a renowned, high-energy classic rock cover band playing more than 75 paid gigs across the St. Louis region. Comprised of six extremely talented high schoolers, Raised on Radio has not only played at sought after venues and events like Grant's Farm, St. Louis Blues Hockey games, and Kirkwood Amphitheater, but they recently won the Readers' Choice award in St. Louis Magazine as the 2025 area's Best Cover Band!

This group of talented musicians does everything from playing, booking the gigs, promotion, lighting, gear and sound. As a co-founder of Raised on Radio, Theo is extremely proud of the hard work and professionalism this group exhibits at every gig and off the stage. From a magnetic stage presence to the ever-evolving list of classic tunes, Raised on Radio has become one of the most sought after bands on the St. Louis area circuit.

What others are saying...

"Keep an eye out for this dude."

Just got back from the Lake. Our sub Keyboardist 18 yr old Theo Wickersham from the band Raised on Radio killed it! Theo did his homework, had the right sounds, super professional! Keep an eye out for this dude.

What others are saying...

"...playing and singing their hearts out"

Saw your show last night at Kirkwood Park. Seeing six teenagers playing and singing their hearts out, and sharing their love of classic rock was truly a balm for my soul in these troubled times. Your show transcended entertainment. For your mostly silver-haired audience, it was a time portal back to their youth, back to when the world made more sense. It was almost a spiritual experience - a reminder the future is not something to fear, but a thing to embrace.

What others are saying...

"He was crushing it."

When I first met Theo, he was around 5 years old, showing up to lessons hungry to learn, full of questions, and just lit up about music. Even back then, I could tell he had “it.” Music wasn’t just something he liked — it lived inside him. He picked melodies out and remember them all very well!

I went to see his band Raised on Radio, and man… he was CRUSHING it. Expert-level ‘70s covers, tones dialed in perfectly — total pro energy. You never know which students will stick with it long-term, but I always knew Theo had what it takes to go all the way if he wanted it.

Fast forward to this weekend — he just happened by while I was playing in a band for a wedding in Forest Park. I asked if he wanted to sit in, and without hesitation, he hopped right up there. Didn’t even tell my bandmates! And for the record, “Don’t Stop Believin’” is the money song for wedding keyboardists — high stakes! 😅

But he NAILED it. 💥

I couldn’t be prouder — not just of his playing, but of his heart, his confidence, and his commitment to his craft.

Keep going, Theo. The world needs your light. I believe in you!

Rig

This is my stack. My rig.

This is what I love to do the most. I love to create and recreate sounds on my Roland Juno DS keyboard, my Nord Lead synth and my Roland VK-8 Organ. I just wish I had more time and xls cables to hook up even more keyboards on stage.

I utilize my digital keyboards to create and layer sounds to recreate songs and even make unique ones of my own. I also have a taste for sounds of authentic analog gear, so I use an organ with real drawbars to make organ tones live and use the Nord that has Oberheim and Mini Moog oscillators to create authentic synthesizer sounds live.  It's almost an obsession as witnessed by the dozen or so keyboards in my basement, including a full Wurlitzer organ, and a collection of synthesizers.

Each one has its own sound. Its own soul. I love finding what that is and using the right one for the right song.

The music was on point, even if the video and sound on the video may not be.  😀
